Who knew people liked hot girls on the Internet? Facebook has released its “Memology 2011″ report, and it turns out Megan Fox and Rihanna both surged in popularity this year thanks to millions of “Likes” on the 7-year-old social network.
With more than 29 million fans, Fox’s official page was named the fastest-growing entertainment page, while Rihanna’s page won the music category with more than 47 million “Likes.” Rihanna also had the most-played song on Facebook with “We Found Love,” which was followed by Katy Perry’s “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.).”
While Rihanna had a big year with two albums charting on Billboard, a massive tour and a few key guest spots, Megan Fox’s surging popularity is a little more perplexing. Did people just feel bad for her unappreciated work on Passion Play? We thought for sure her popularity would take a hit after Rosie Huntington-Whiteley took her place in the Transformers franchise, but Fox is as popular as ever.
In other metrics measured in the new report, Charlie Sheen made the list of Facebook’s top trends found in people’s status updates, but the top two spots were both reserved for some very Facebook language: “lms” (like my status) and “tbh” (to be honest). Check out the full report here.
Celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Lady Gaga are in while Michael Jackson, Britney Spears and swine flu are out, according to the latest search results released by both Yahoo! and Bing.
According to Yahoo!’s annual Most Popular Searches which tracks the searches on its website by Australians during 2010, six out of the top ten overall searches were dominated by celebrities.
Lady Gaga tops the list as the most searched celebrity with Justin Bieber, Lindsay Lohan, Kim Kardashian, Rihanna and Megan Fox also in the top 10.
Britney Spears who previously dominated the Most Popular Searches has been knocked off the top search results for the first time in years, failing to even make an appearance in the top 10.
Big events like the World Cup and Australia’s Federal Election as well as the iPhone4/iPad and the oil spill in Mexico also made it to the top 10 searches of 2010.
In a blog posted by the Bing team, the company said that while topical items like Swine Flu and Stock Market topped the list in 2009, this year rankings reflects the popularity of celebrity news.

Joseph Kahn says Megan Fox and Dominic Monaghan didn’t have an easy job on ‘Love the Way You Lie’ set.
Given that he’s one of the biggest names in music videos and his latest project featured both Eminem and Rihanna, Joseph Kahn should have had no problem casting the two leads for the “Love the Way You Lie” video. And yet, he considers himself “incredibly lucky” to have landed both Dominic Monaghan and Megan Fox for the clip.
So, with two big-name actors on set, and only two days to shoot the entire video, Kahn had his work cut out for him. Monaghan and Fox were going to need to channel conflicting emotions — anger one second, passion the next — and do it quickly. As the director, it was up to Kahn to help them harness all of that — often at a moment’s notice. Luckily for him, he had two of the best to work with.
The controversial video to Eminem and Rihanna’s collaboration, Love The Way You Lie, has broken records as it racked up over 6.6million YouTube views in the first 24 hours of its release.
The video, which glamourises domestic violence by constantly showing it as a precursor to sex with Transformers star Megan Fox, has provoked debate from bloggers, pop critics and broadsheet journalists alike.
The promo also stars Lord of The Rings and Lost star Dominic Monaghan, who isn’t only punching walls, but sincerely above his weight, again. Not only does he date Evangeline Lilly but he gets paid to snog Megan Fox?!
“Love The Way You Lie,” featuring Rihanna, will premiere on MTV and VEVO.com on Thursday, August 5th at 9:00 PM EDT. Shot in Los Angeles, the video was directed by Joseph Kahn. Rihanna appears in the video, which also features Megan Fox (Transformers) and Dominic Monaghan (The Lord of the Rings, Lost) playing a couple going through the extremes of an abusive relationship.
Megan Fox donated her fee for her video appearance to Sojourn House, a shelter for abused women. Sojourn provides battered women and their children a safe space to regroup, rebuild, and reestablish their self-esteem and lives. For more information on Sojourn House please visit http://www.opcc.net/
Come back tomorrow night for pictures and the video!
I’ve added more pictures of Megan on set of “Love The Way You Lie” goofing off and locking lips with Dominic Monaghan last Friday (July 23).
